COMMAND OF THE OCEAN, CHATHAM HISTORICAL DOCKYARD, KENT
Command of the Oceans tells powerful, compelling stories of innovation and craftsmanship, revealing how Chatham Dockyard and its people helped propel Britain to global influence.
The exhibition features two internationally significant maritime archaeological discoveries: the timbers of the Namur (1756), intriguingly laid to rest beneath the floor of the old Wheelwrights’ Workshop, and an extraordinary trove of artefacts recovered from the seabed—remnants of the Invincible (1758).
