ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Studio ZNA is a London-based, creative lighting design practice, established in 2006 and founded and directed by Zerlina Hughes. Zerlina and her highly-experienced team work across museum and gallery design, high end retail, commercial and residential buildings, theatre, opera and film.

The company’s expertise is particularly sought after because of the strength of its 18-year-old portfolio and its mix of outstanding creativity with extensive technical knowledge. The dynamic nature of light both informs its work and stimulates its design process.

Studio ZNA’s practice is built on collaboration and its designers thrive as part of a wider creative team. Working closely with clients, architects, designers and artists as the best route to stimulate the most innovative and fulfilling lighting design solutions.

The practice features regularly in the press, UK and globally, and has been recognised with various awards. These include wins and at the LIT Awards for Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Denmark and the refurbishment of Raphael Court Gallery in London. Our lighting scheme for Gabrielle Chanel at the V&A was shortlisted for Darc Awards 2024 as well as a RIBA National Award on the team that delivered The Courtauld Gallery’s remodelling project, Courtauld Connects.
