V&A EAST MUSEUM SHOPS, LONDON
In continuation of enhancing a feeling of public ownership and participation Studio ZNA designed the lighting to support this sense of welcome and accessibility. The lighting strategy responds to the museum’s daylight and expansive interiors, working with Studio Mutt’s spatial and scenographic concepts, we created a seamless transition between the galleries, lobbies and retail environment.
The retail spaces within the new V&A East Museum have been carefully illuminated to support a contemporary retail experience that compliments the museums bold architectural identity. The lighting design balances visual comfort with product presentation, creating a welcoming environment that encourages exploration while maintaining a close relationship with the surrounding gallery spaces.
Working with the interior design of the space, we used integrated linear lights in the shelving and display cases to illuminate the products while creating visual frames that enhance their presentation. We also focused on circulation lighting to subtly guide visitors through the space layered with integrated display lighting ensuring products remain the focus without competing with the architecture.
