Studio ZNA worked closely with the V&A design team to delicately light all the priceless and fantastical objects and gems of the Faberge exhibit. Creating ‘glowing windows’ using linear LEDs for each showcase with soft focused light per object we used most fittings from the museum stock. Ambient light was kept simple and warm in tones of gold and pink to bring out the setworks and jewels. 

For the final section we designed DMX controlled wall mounted theatrical fittings that were choreographed with the soundtrack; softly fading in and out with the crescendos of the music. Each showcase was thoughtfully designed with lightsheets in the base of the plinths and fiber optic top lights to gently light the Imperial Faberge eggs. This way we kept conservation levels in check whilst still making these objects sing in the space.
